the first sleeve, unraveled.

i didn't know unraveling a sweater was so laborious.
here is the first sleeve. i am too impatient to do it all, so i'm washing it to try and relax the yarn a bit. we'll see how i get on.

I scored at the Salvation Army today.

Oh my. How I love to go thirfting. :D On my way back home from work, I saw a parking spot right in front of the door of the Salvation Army, I just couldn't pass it up. Those of you who live in cities like this one (San Francisco) know what that is like. Anyway, in I went. $20 later, I came out with 3 sweaters, one of which I'll be unraveling for sure. The first one is nothing that special. 80% wool/20% nylon blend. Pleasant color. Good enough condition. I might just keep this one to wear.

the second one is a nice vintage-ish LL Bean 100% wool. Alson nice color. This one I'm unraveling and making it into some thing prettier.

And now for the prize. My jaw dropped in sheer joy when i saw:

This wool is so amazing, you can feel the lanolin still on it. I don't particularly like the style of the sweater, especially that nonsense serging decoration job-- which thank goodness, is purely decorative, so it's coming off first thing! After that, I shall decide whether to unravel it or not... that wool is a thing of beauty. I can't believe I found that at the Salvation Army for less that $5, and new with tag! Good times, good times.

Too much lace yarn!

And I've never knitted a piece of lace in my life. Though that is changing as I type, for I have begun to work on the EZ Pi Shawl. Wrangling 4 needles cause I don't have a 16" circular, so I have to make it big enough to fit a 24". sigh...

I shall post photos of the progress soon.

So yeah, I reckon that's about 5lbs of wool right there. I wonder if I'll ever use it...

Mini sweaters

Before diving in and making sweaters for real people, I had a good time making some for dolls. Instant gratification guaranteed.

this is where i shall post about my knitting adventures.

I am not sure how often i will post, but i felt like starting a knitting blog.

i recently finished a EZ Tomten jacket for my daughter. Now i can't wait till it's winter so she can wear it. I wish i had one in my size.
